Interesting Statistics about Winneshiek county

Peak numbers for farms in the county showed 3,257 entities selling agricultural products of which 2,796 were full time farmers, 327 were part time in rural areas and 134 were full and part time within municipal boundaries. Total people residing on farms, 11,655, total county population 21,639. Farm population as a % of total 53.86%
2007 statistics - 1,423 farms of which 62% (882) are full time and 38%(541) derive more than 30% of net after tax income off farm. Total people residing on farms 3,131, total county population 21,263. Farm population as % of total 14.73%
In the last 57 years, 1950 - 2007, the county has actually lost 376 people and from 1900 - 2007, the loss is 2,468 people.
After all the shuffle of population from rural to municipal, what is the actual net sum gain? Do we have any more people, any more businesses, any more kids in school, any more actual total agricultural production, any true higher standard of living?
What do you think?
