Jase,
Thanks for posting that site on the "alt. building" thread. I have long been interested in earth home construction if and when I ever build a house. I would love to see what you come up with for design if you go forward with it around Decorah, and would love to see it in progress!
Jase:
Did some reading on permaculture and there are a number of aspects of that system that could be integrated into existing systems. I will need to read much more to get up to speed.
Glad to see you have read and enjoyed Edible Forest Garden and Permaculture. They are wonderful books!
Have you read any Daniel Quinn? I am reading Endgame by Derek Jensen and I must say it is one of the best books I have ever read(although I am not sure if many people can swallow all that it has to say). It is so cool that you aspire to have your own permaculture. Where you thinking Decorah? I am planning on setting mine up in the tropics or subtropics. There is a guy who has set up a permaculture in Minnesota, you can read about it his other adventures and check out the designs at: http://www.rawmodel.com/design.html
Hey, Jase! Thanks for checking in from the west coast! I wish you could have been here for the inaugural ball and community networking. There was a great deal of positive discussion about building a more sustainable future for this region. It goes without saying that we'll need you back here to implement some your good ideas. It's been very interesting following the comments made by AJ. I will now do some research on permaculture. Take care and best wishes, Carolyn
