Baker Commons, Luther College. Parking is available.


4:00 Presenters arrive to set-up and check in.

4:15 - 4:30 Registration/Sign-in/nametags (Jono Ruf at sign-in table/greeter)

4:30 Welcome and Introduction (Craig Mosher and Caleb Mattison)

4:35 - 5:15 Presentations by four area "FOOD" projects:

1) Food and Fitness Initiative (Kellogg Foundation
Presenters: Ann Mansfield, Brenda Ranum, and area high school students

2) Northeast Iowa Food and Farm Coalition (NIFF)
Presenter: Coordinator of NIFF Teresa Wiemerslage (ISU Extension, Allamakee County)

3) Pepperfield Project
Presenter: David Cavagnaro

4) Greater Area Food Pantry & First Lutheran Food Pantry
Presenters: Carolyn Flaskerud and Judy Alford

5:15- - 5:30 "OPEN MIC" - time for others in attendance to share a project idea

5:30 - 5:35 (BREAK)

5:35 - 6:20 BREAK-OUT SESSIONS - attendees will choose one of the following groups to join for the next half-hour to discuss in more detail the goals of the project/organization. Attendees will be ready to take one-step of action relating to this group/project. Each discussion group will be provided a large blank sheet of paper and markers to take notes. Please assign someone in your group to take those notes. All notes will be compiled and distributed to presenter/volunteers of workshop/attendees.

2) Food Storage Systems - Bill Pardee
3) Pepperfield Project - David Cavagnaro
4) Food and Fitness Initiative - Ann Mansfield, Brenda Ranum, area high school students
5) Food Pantries - Judy Alford (GAP) and Carolyn Flaskerud (1st Lutheran)
with Carolyn Corbin (UU potato garden project)
6) Curbside Recyling - Caleb Mattison
7) Northeast Iowa Farm-Food Coaltion - Teresa Wiermerslage
8) perhaps others that come up from the open mic time period

6:20 - 6:30 Summary of each break-out group discussion and plans of action. Closing comments/announcements

The goal of the workshop is to have each attendee commit to just one action step in one of the areas presented above.
